Circet are hiring an experienced manager to lead the Environmental, Sustainability & Governance department for our business units in Ireland and UK.
The ideal candidate will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to develop, execute, and monitor strategies that promote environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and positive community impact. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong experience in sustainability practices, with the ability to drive change and achieve ambitious environmental goals in the telecoms and power sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Sustainability Strategy Development:
- Develop and execute the company’s sustainability strategy in alignment with global best practices, regulatory frameworks, and business objectives.
- Define short-term and long-term sustainability goals (including carbon reduction, waste management, energy efficiency, and circular economy practices) and ensure they align with the company’s overall strategy.
- Lead efforts to reduce carbon emissions across the organization’s operations, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and guide teams to achieve net-zero targets.
- Oversee energy management, renewable energy sourcing, and environmental footprint reduction initiatives across all business units.
- Implement waste management and recycling programs, ensuring sustainable practices across all facilities.:
- Monitor local, regional, and international environmental regulations and ensure the company remains compliant with sustainability reporting standards (e.g., GRI, CDP, SBTi).
- Manage the preparation of sustainability reports, ensuring transparency in environmental performance and progress toward sustainability targets.
- Lead interactions with external stakeholders (regulators, industry bodies, investors) on sustainability matters and reporting
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, supply chain, marketing, and HR) to ensure that sustainability goals are integrated across all aspects of the business.
- Engage with suppliers, customers, and external partners to promote and implement sustainable practices within the value chain.
- Organize and lead internal sustainability awareness programs, workshops, and employee engagement activities.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify emerging sustainability trends, technologies, and innovations that can be integrated into the company’s operations.
- Evaluate and recommend new sustainable practices and initiatives, driving continuous improvement and innovation in sustainability practices across the telecom sector.
- Lead efforts to adopt circular economy principles, such as product life-cycle assessments and sustainable product design.
- Budgeting and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the sustainability budget, ensuring cost-effective implementation of sustainability initiatives.
- Track performance, set targets, and manage resources to ensure successful delivery of sustainability projects on time and within budget. Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., LEED, CEM, ISO 14001) in sustainability or environmental management is preferred.
- Education:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainability or environmental management, with a focus on the telecom industry or a similarly complex, regulated sector.
- Proven track record in developing and executing sustainability strategies and achieving measurable results in carbon reduction, energy efficiency, and resource management.
- Experience in sustainability reporting (e.g., GRI, CDP, SBTi, TCFD) and familiarity with industry regulations.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability reporting standards, and best practices.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex data, set targets, and develop strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, customers, and suppliers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with sustainability reporting software and tools. Personal Attributes
