Responsibilities as General Foreman
- Lead and supervise site-based construction teams, subcontractors and plant operators.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved specifications, drawings and construction programmes.
- Take responsibility for the health, safety, environmental and quality performance of site teams.
- Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks and Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA).
- Ensure compliance with approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Monitor progress on site and report against project milestones and programme requirements.
- Ensure materials, labour, plant and equipment are available and utilised effectively.
- Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, permits, inspections, plant checks and quality documentation.
- Assist with planning and coordination of works to minimise disruption and maximise productivity.
- Identify and manage site risks, escalating issues where required.
- Ensure permits to work, site access arrangements and temporary works controls are implemented and maintained.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and ensure works meet contractual and client standards.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, HSEQ teams, clients and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Promote a positive safety culture and lead by example at all times.
- Ensure all company assets, plant and equipment are used appropriately and maintained in good working order.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and development support to site operatives and supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation, industry standards and client requirements.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, landowners, utility providers and the public.
- Proven experience working as a General Foreman, Foreman or Supervisor within the Transmission or Power sectors.
- Experience delivering High Voltage infrastructure projects for overhead line construction
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and productivity management.
- Experience leading direct labour and subcontractor workforces.
- Demonstrable knowledge of CDM Regulations and current Health & Safety legislation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction programmes.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- NPG / National Grid / SSEN / SPEN / NESO transmission project experience.
- EUSR Utility SHEA Power.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- Temporary Works Supervisor.
- Appointed Person / Lift Supervisor.
- CPCS or NPORS plant qualifications.
- First Aid at Work.
- National Grid Persons Authorisation or equivalent utility authorisations.
- HSG47 and utility avoidance experience.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
