Position: Project Manager (Timber Cutting – Power Networks)

Reporting to: Contract Manager          

Location: Ireland

Main Purpose:

The Project Manager will report to the Contract Manager and is expected to successfully deliver Programmes in line with KPIs, HSEQ Standards and Company Processes.

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing a team of overhead line timber cutting staff to ensure continual delivery of a targeted programme. This includes pro-actively liaising with both the delivery teams and direct with our sub-contractors and suppliers.

Responsibilities as Project Manager include:

  • Drive and manage a project that delivers the objectives required to meet or exceed KPI targets.

  • Provide direction to your project team – inclusive of sub-contractors.

  • Ensure that the project is fully compliant with the Client & Utility Arboriculture Industry requirements.

  • Determine the resource requirements for the completion of all works throughout the project term.

  • Manage productivity, assign roles, tasks and responsibilities required for the successful completion of the project work in accordance with planning, specifications and requirements.

  • Take ownership of the commercial aspects of the contract / project and ensure the project does not go into financial breach.

  • Identify ways to reduce costs and improve performance.

 

Health & Safety Obligations

  • Fully understand and implement the company safety policy and procedures.

  • Ensure that the programmes for the contracts are successfully delivered in a Safe, Quality and On Time Manner.

  • Ensure that a ‘Right First Time’ culture is adopted and developed throughout the business.

  • Drive compliance to any regulatory measures that may apply to the works and operations that Circet undertake.

  • Ensure that all contracts achieve turnover and profitability by maximising efficiency and minimising cost of failure.

  • Manage Client relationships within the client organisations across all areas.

  • Sponsor new ways of working which would improve delivery and service then support any activities being undertaken to implement change.

 

Skills & Experience required:

  • Utility Arboriculture industry experience at management level

  • NEBOSH qualified (desirable)

  • Sound knowledge of all HSEQ regulations & in particular in Utility Arborist areas.

  • Good communication, people management and leadership skills.

  • Relevant or similar experience within the Overhead Power Sector.

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft excel & PDF software packages

  • Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft office products

  • Sound working knowledge of broader electrical networks including distribution systems and associated plant and equipment. Knowledge of civil works would also be an advantage.

  • A sound working knowledge of electrical infrastructure, safety rules / legislation.

  • Previous experience of resource management including the planning and scheduling of work to maximise income / profit.

  • Previous management experience including the ability and willingness to address poor performance

  • Good commercial awareness with ability to monitor and accurately report performance against pre-determined targets

  • Have a high standard of work ethic

  • Be able to manage/supervise part of a team

  • Confident problem-solving abilities

  • This role may involve staying away and night working as projects dictate. You must be available for this as and when required.

  • A Driving Licence (no more than 6 points)

 

Familiar with;

  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Woodchipper operation

  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting

  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm

  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue

  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 3, Aerial cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw Using Freefall Techniques.

  • Utility Arborist (UA)
