The Core installation technician will Physically place, remove, or modify working and non-working equipment including the following:

  • Cable trays and/or racking.
  • Data equipment cabinets and frames, data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, firewalls, IFN, RAD, WUP and other relevant technologies.
  • Working with DC supplies.
  • Identify, label, measure, terminate and physically route the cables
  • Conduct testing and document performance characteristics of fibre, CAT5/6 , software; determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system.
  • Perform advanced test and turn-up as well as other integration activities.
  • Resolve equipment and technical issues as they arise.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret detailed specifications and method of procedures (MOPs)
  • Perform quality validation on in-process and completed work.
  • Complete operations paperwork (e.g., timesheets, job documentation, etc.) including daily job status reports as requested.
  • Assume responsibility for the successful completion of installation projects.
  • Act as a customer contact; interface with customers and local supervisors regarding project status
  • Interact with all members of the organization including Installation, Engineering, Project Management
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Knowledge Requirement

  • Installation  knowledge of core network infrastructure for new and existing network elements
  • Detailed Planning for installations for cable ways, racks and cable routes as per detailed drawings
  • Managing on-site on-site activities for installation
  • Knowledge of above products would be nice to have
  • Working in core environment would be a added benefit
  • Knowledge of working with Fibre
  • Good Knowledge of Ireland Core Networks (Optional)
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Good daily communications to management, identify issues and resolve with making correct plans to rectify the issue that has been identified
  • Professionalism with internal and external stakeholders
  • Team Player
  • Sound Knowledge of Ireland H&S specifications
  • Worked on installing cable routes (Gantry/cable ladders, Fibre ducting etc‿)
  • Willing to travel locally in the Republic of Ireland
  • Reporting accuracy
  • Rack installations
  • Professional and resolving issue and conflict (internal and external)
  • Relevant qualifications required
