Circet UK are looking for a Design Manager to join our team.

The Design Manager – Power Networks will be responsible for managing the design process for electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering exceptional design solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with project teams, engineers, clients, and stakeholders to drive project success from inception to completion.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead and manage the design process for power network infrastructure projects, ensuring all designs meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee multi-disciplinary design teams, ensuring effective collaboration between electrical, civil, and mechanical engineers.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring designs are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
  • Prepare and review design documentation, technical reports, and proposals for client presentations.
  • Manage and mitigate design-related risks, proactively identifying potential issues and providing effective solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior designers and engineers, mentoring and developing their skills.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure the smooth delivery of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, including safety protocols.
  • Track project progress, preparing regular reports on design development, milestones, and challenges.

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
  • Educational Requirements: A degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in design management within the power networks, energy, or utilities sectors.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of power network design principles, including substations, overhead lines, underground cables, and electrical distribution systems.
    • Proficiency with design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, GIS, EPLAN etc.).
  • Leadership & Management Skills:
    • Proven experience in managing design teams and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Excellent project management skills, with a strong track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid knowledge of relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
